LOVE LOST
The true to life story
of a deep love. But will it last forever? Can Susan walk away from the man with
whom she is very much in love? Why do some people turn away from GOD? For Jimmy
to be lost when he died would be tragic - a great family love/link would be
broken.
It has been said that "it is better to have loved and lost than
never to have loved at all." When Susan Black enrolled in Tennessee State she
was happy and looking forward to college life. She came from a middle class
Christian family with parents that loved her. Five feet nine inches tall with
sandy blond hair, green eyes, white teeth, a bright smile, and friendly
personality made her well liked by all who knew her. She refused alcohol,
cigarettes, and sex, but was still very popular. I knew Susan was also
practical, cautious, shy and reserved. Her friends thought of her as
sophisticated, "preppy," materialistic and fashion conscious. She loved to dance,
play tennis, and chat on the internet and telephone. In High School she was in
the top 90% of her class. Susan then received a partial scholarship to college
where she majored in computer science.
Susan had seen Jimmy on campus, State
University, but had never spoken to him. It was a rainy October day her Junior
year. She started to run from the cafeteria to her dormitory. Jimmy came quickly
up behind her with an umbrella and held it over her. "Who is this?" she thought.
When they got to East Dorm she told him, "Thank you very much." "Sir Lancelot to
the rescue," he replied. As she looked over the "good samaritan" she was very
impressed not only with his act of kindness, but also with his appearance. "I'm
Susan...Susan Black. Aren't you in Dr. Hill's English class?" "Yep. I'm
Jimmy...Porter." Although Jimmy was dating when he met Susan, he fell in love
with her at first sight. "You are so..beautiful," he said to her. "What did he
say? Is this for real?" she wondered. "Bye, thanks again,"...and she quickly
walked away.
A few weeks later in October, a cold, windy day, walking along
the campus green Susan approached Jimmy and another girl playing touch football.
Jimmy Porter was 5'10" and taller than Susan. He had dark brown hair, and she
noticed his muscles. Jimmy played football in High School, but was not a star
player. His parents were rich from real estate and the stock market. Raised on a
large ranch in Montana he was a macho, country guy, very different from Susan.
"Want to join us?" he hollered to her. "No way!! I don't like football." Susan
was dressed in a long skirt and knit sweater. "I'm not dressed to play." Jimmy
had on jeans and a sweat shirt. "Come on! You're o.k. We will help you." It was
a sight seeing Susan trying to catch and throw a football. She had been playing
for only five minutes and was already getting hot and tired. "Don't throw the
ball so hard! Ops, oh," and she slipped and fell. She dropped the ball and sat
up on the ground(mad and laughing.) Jimmy ran over to her to help pick her up.
"Are you o.k.?" Looking into each other's eyes...they are drawn together like a
magnet. There was a slow movement drawing them closer together. Touching her
soft and tender body created love feelings for each other. They didn't say a
word...their eyes "speak" and both of them slowly move closer until their lips
touch. It was ecstacy; the greatest feeling they had ever experienced. They were
light headed and full of joy. They felt cold tingles. "Wow, wow, wow, is this
real?" It was a very long kiss, neither one wanting it to end. It was
passionate with sexual feelings. Susan didn't know why she had submitted to his
advances, but she couldn't and didn't want to resist. When she stopped to
breath, "Oh, your girlfriend!" Susan said and started to get up. Jimmy's
girlfriend looked hard at Jimmy and walked off not saying a word. Susan dazed
and with racing thoughts in her head, suddenly runs off leaving Jimmy standing
alone with the football. "Why did I kiss
him?"
