"Here she comes!" The loud
locomotive was heard before it was seen. Then the Union Pacific orphan train
with heavy grey smoke billowing into the clear blue sky was seen. "Here she
comes!" It was a cold day November 24, 1920 in Omaha, Nebraska. I can remember
it very well. I was a shy, freckled, fifteen year old girl with blond hair,
wearing a new long flowered dress, a brown wool coat and a straw hat. Standing
at the station with me was my Mother, Father, Grandma, Grandpa, and my Aunt
Mary. We were all eagerly awaiting to see the orphans, and especially one. My
parents had filed to adopt a girl orphan. "Hi, I'm Molly O'Hare from
Philadelphia; are you Becky?" the fourteen year old pigtailed, redheaded girl asked nervously.
