It was two
weeks after the wedding before Diane and Sharon met again together. The long,
cold winter was over; Spring had arrived. It was a happy reunion at the
Friendship Cafe. "It was a beautiful wedding." Diane replied, "And you were a
beautiful bridesmaid. Someday I will be your bridesmaid."
After a few
minutes Diane's conversation changed to what had been unspoken in her thoughts.
"I have been wondering." Pause. "Could he have been an angel?" Pause. "What is
an angel? Do you believe in them?" Sharon looked lovingly into Daine's eyes,
"Yes, I believe in them, and yes, he 'might' have been an angel. I do think it
was a miracle." "Yes, it really was! How else could he have done ALL this?
First, he found me and probably saved my life. Second, he called my parents, and
they drove up to see me," Diane began to cry, "They said they loved me and
wanted me to come back home with my husband to visit or to stay anytime I
needed. How did he reach them?" Pause. "Then you know he informed me about
Michael. How could he have known he was HIV positive?" Pause. "And unbelievably,
he talked to Roger." Pause. "When Roger came to see me and said, 'I'll never
smoke again; you are more important to me,' you heard me scream!"
"Roger
and I have found a house in South Portland, and you will always be welcomed
there. And......we have decided to start going to First Baptist."
"Yes,
it was a miracle, Diane, love is a miracle."
